Williamstown
Williamstown is nestled in the rolling hills of western Massachusetts’s Berkshire County. This lovely New England town is has developed into a regional hub of education, culture, and commerce, due to the excellent colleges and universities located in, and around, Williamstown.
Educational Resources
Williams College, the area’s most notable school, is one of the finest academic institutions in the country, having been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as the number one Liberal Arts School in the United States, and placing second in Forbes 2015 America’s Top Colleges Ranking. Williamstown is also home to the acclaimed Clark Art Institute, and the Williams College Museum of Art. The Massachusetts Museum of Culture and Arts (MASS MoCA) and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts are located in neighboring North Adams.
The area includes Williamstown Elementary School, which caters to children from pre-k through sixth grade. The school’s mission is to inspire in all students a love of learning and challenge them to grow in heart and mind. Mt. Greylock Regional School is the area’s middle/high school. The school has received numerous awards based on academics and athletic accomplishments.
While Williamstown can be considered a college town, it is relatively quiet and very comfortable for people of all ages. Many professors from the local institutions live in Williamstown with their families.
Activities
Williamstown has a unique combination of outdoor activities and artistic venues easily accessible for residents and visitors. Because of its location in the Berkshire Mountains and just south of the New Yorks Taconic range and Vermont’s Green Mountains, there are excellent opportunities to hike and ski within driving distance of downtown Williamstown. For arts and culture, check out the Clark Art Institute, Billsville House Concerts, and in the summer, the Williamstown Theatre Festival is can’t-miss.
